If a QR Code Won't Scan
Work through these in order — nearly every scan problem is light, distance, or a camera setting. Your Power Move is still waiting.
Try these first
Hold the book flat and steady
Lay the page flat on a table instead of holding it in one hand. A curved or tilted page bends the code and most cameras give up.
Scan from 4–8 inches away
Start about six inches from the code, then move slowly closer or farther until the link appears. Too close is the most common mistake.
Get light on the page — not glare
Use bright, even light. Avoid direct lamp or ceiling glare bouncing off the paper, and avoid your own shadow. Turning slightly sideways usually kills the glare.
Center the whole code in frame
All four corners of the square must be visible with a little white space around it. Nothing should cover the code — no thumb, no bookmark, no pen mark.
Wipe the camera lens
A smudged lens is the quiet culprit. Clean it with a soft cloth and try again.
Recommended camera settings
iPhone / iPad
- Settings → Camera → turn on Scan QR Codes.
- Open the Camera app in Photo mode (not Video, Portrait, or Pano).
- Hold over the code until a yellow link banner appears, then tap it.
- Still nothing? Swipe down from the top-right for Control Center and use the Code Scanner.
Android
- Open the Camera app and make sure Google Lens suggestions or QR scanning is enabled in camera settings.
- Hold over the code, then tap the link that pops up.
- Alternatively open Google Lens (or the Lens icon in the Google app) and point it at the code.
- Older phones: install any free QR scanner from the Play Store.
Where to scan from
Every Power Move code is printed on the last page of its chapter. The back-cover code opens the main landing page, and the code on the final page of the book opens the 30-Day Power Move Challenge. Scan from the printed book — screenshots, photocopies, and photos of a photo often lose enough detail that the code stops reading.
It scanned, but something's off
- The code scanned, but the page says it's locked.
- That happens when the address was typed or shortened by hand. The printed code carries a secure signature that can't be retyped. Scan the code directly from the chapter's last page — the full link (including everything after the question mark) is what unlocks the Power Move.
- It opened the wrong Power Move.
- Each chapter has its own code. Turn to the end of the chapter you want and scan the code printed there.
- The page won't load at all.
- Check that you have signal or Wi-Fi, then reload. If your phone opened the link inside another app's built-in browser, tap the menu and choose Open in Safari or Open in Chrome.
- My camera won't focus on the code.
- Tap the screen directly on the code to force focus. If your camera has a macro or 0.5x lens that keeps switching, switch back to the standard 1x lens.
- The printed code is damaged, torn, or smudged.
